De gecontroleerde herkomstbenaming Squinzano - genoemd naar het gelijknamige stadje - ligt in het hart van Salento, tussen de steden Lecce en Brindisi.

Deze fraaie volle rode wijn wordt gemaakt van 85% negroamarodruiven en 15% malvasia nera. Na de alcoholische gisting in roestvrijstalen tanks wordt de wijn overgeheveld naar kleine fusten van Allier-eikenhout. Dit wordt door veel wijnmakers beschouwd als een van de meest verfijnde houtsoorten voor de rijping van wijn.

Hier vindt de rijping plaats van ongeveer zes maanden. Het resultaat is een heel toegankelijke, ronde smaak met behoud van de kenmerkende frisheid van de negroamarodruif. Heerlijk zo of bij geroosterd vlees, 's zomers bij voorkeur licht gekoeld.

Volle, ronde wijn met veel smaakintensiteit en aroma; een markante kruidigheid in de neus (kaneel!) en een volle, zwoele smaak met veel lengte en zachtheid.

Drinken bij

Mondvullende wijn, eventueel licht gekoeld heerlijk bij geroosterd vlees.

Houdbaarheid

Op dronk vanaf één jaar na de oogst, eventueel te bewaren tot vier jaar na de oogst.
